Mourtos ( Sivota ) - Ionian destinations - Sailing information

The Sivota islands are opposite the south cape of Corfu and S of Igoumenitsa gulf . Is a nice touristic place with many restaurants cafes and shops . There are many bays around the area which are full of rented motor boats during the summer season.

Approach Mourtos       (39°24'66N / 020°13'80Ε WGS84 )

The lighthouse on the N side of Sivota island is easily identified .The entrance from N is free of dangers so as from S .The minimum depth at the S passage is 2m so care must be taken . Do not attempt to pass between Ay Nikolaos and Sivota islands or even go close to the S side of Ay Nikolaos where reefs obstruct the passage.

Mooring

Mourtos is a good shelter with a very good holding .Ferry wash might make your stay a bit uncomfortable sometimes but usually is not dangerous .Go stern or bows-to the S quay with care of the depths especially at the S/E corner of the quay . Alternatively go stern-to the N quay or along side to the W side of the quay .Care must be taken on the lazy lines which  have been laid for local boats along the N quay .
