Winterisation List

Forestay genoa roller

• take out sail & wash for winter preservation
• check all screw & rivet points of the reefing connections
• check drums , tubes , bearings for free rotation of the roller
• check ropes , pulleys & foot path rope and its security break point
• take out drum & swivel , wash it in hot water ( use water with 10% of clear benzene ) and grease bearings with lithioum grease
• check the connection between the lower part of the drum & deck .Especially check the toggle fork , clevis pins , split pins , terminal parts , washers & hook on deck .( look for possible cracks - replaceafter 5 years - )
• check the point of the forestay wire & top bearing
• Mast & main sail roller
• take out sail & wash for winter preservation
• check every movable part , clean & spray grease
• check of all ropes which move mainsail , genoa & spinnaker
• check mast & rigging
• check basement & and turning bottom blocks
• check all rigging wires at point of connection
• check boom ( inboard & outboard ends ) and rivet parts
• take out ropes for wash

Deck

• take out anchor winch , change carbons & oil ( electrician ) , check gipsy , stripper , ( and screws on block ) , wing nut , clutch cone inner & outer & staft keys
• check electrical connections of the winch to the boat , remote control & its plug
• check condition of the chain and its fitting point onboard
• check anchor compartment - clean - & check for possible water leak into the front cabin
• check of the spare anchor , chain , connections , rope , wash & paint
• check wash & spray grease all lead blocks , jammers & rope stoppers
• check mainsheet traveller and genoa travelers , cars , stops - clean & spray wash
• take apart the winches , wash , clean and grease
• check all hatches & windows for waterproofing - check their fittings ( in & out ) , their spring tentioners , hooks
• check lifelines , clevis pins , split pins , stanchions , bases & split aft pulpit lifelines
• check anchor & locker hinges & aft entrance hinge
• check coachroof grab rail & fittings , front & aft mooring cleats & fittings , forward & aft pulpits & fittings
• check for water dry in the areas of shrouds chain plates
• check the water & diesel filling points and caps
• check toe rail
• check mooring lines & wash
• check and clean aft rubber protector - check swimming ladder - hinges & fitting
• take out bimini & sprayhood , wash and repair if necessary ( sail maker ) .Check skeletons - fittings
• clean cockpit lockers & check inventory of the area
• clean all ss parts and apply cream for protection & polish
• clean fenders & wash or replace lines
• polish all deck
• check oars , their fittings , pump , wooden floor ( replace if it's cracked ) , aft clean & paint , take dinghy for service
• take life raft & fire extinguishers for annual inpection
• Steering wheels
• take apart top mechanism , check bearings , shaft etc, wash and grease , replace primary water tighten washer
• check , clean and grease the tangential unit and ends fitting
• check wire and grease it along its path
• check all point and tight all bulldog grips
• check water dryness of the teflon sealer and check for cracks around ss steering shaft in & out
• check emergency tiller and point of fitting

Hull

• water pressure all hull under water area
• check gel coat for scratches and also the decoration strip
• check with meter for moisture and signs of osmosis
• take out some old antifouling and prepare area for application of new antifouling
• clean engine shaft and bracket - propeller
• check shaft base of bracket , water lubricated bearing , pin drive , propeller , safety screw , anodes and safety pins
• replace anodes
• clean and polish upper part of hull
• apply primer and 2 coats of antifouling
• paint with 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of propeller paint all the shaft and propeller
• check keel for rust and connection with hull
• check - clean all through hulls and check vanes inside for good operation

Electrical - electronics

• check the condition of the batteries , fill with electrolyte , charge
• check cables and ends of batteries
• check of the main switch , fuse & replace ceramic fuse for the anchor winch with automatic thermal switch
• check isolator in - out and cable path yo the switch panel for leak
• check battery charger if any
• check lights in and out
• take out starter and alternator to electrician
• check fuse connection and earth
• check voltage , ammeter , water and diesel gauge
• check the use of the remote control for the anchor
• take out all instruments for winter ( vhf , gps , plotter , autopilot, etc )
• check aerial of VHF , NAVTEX, GPS
• check manual and electric bilge pump - operation and ckeck for leaks
• check shower pumps and their switch buttons

Wc - toilets

• dismandte toilets base and pump
• check and change kit
• take out tube and replace
• check lighters and replace with ss
• check vanes and spray with WD40 & grease
• check water taps & cable
• replace insulating silicons
• check mirrors and replace if needed
• put purifiers in the water tanks for threatment

Furniture and upholsteries

• wash all wood with soap and sweet water , dry with heater and spray liquid silicon cream
• check varnish and replace step varnish
• check handles , locks , push buttons , hintches in the doors
• take out upholsteries for dry cleaning
• take out blankets for dry cleaning
• replace pillows

Fridge and cooker

• check fridge motor and fill with freon if necessary
• dismantle cooker , clean and test
• check gas pipe and valves

Engine compartment

• wash with fenisol the motor , reverse gear and coupling
• change oil in reverse gear and motor
• dismantle water to diesel seperator and fix again
• clean diesel tank
• change oil filter , diesel filter , pre-diesel filter , air filter, alternator belt
• change timing belt
• change , clean and paint base fittings
• check , stop , gear , acceleration cables
• check fresh water pump , cooling radiator , seperation tubes , out tubes and change cooling water
• dismantle sea water pump & service , change impeller , clean sea water filter
• check connections between shaft and reverse gear , clean and paint
• start motor for cleaning with solution
• dismantle sprayers , clean and adjust
• adjust in-out valves
• check for any leakage of exhaust system
• check transmission handle
• service outboard

Inventory check

• clean and check all the kitchen inventory - replace if necessary
• check all safety equipment for dates
• replace tool box with workable tools
• check papers of the yacht for certificate expiry , maps and books
• general cleaning
